Destiny

Kim ClementIt is Choice, Not Chance, That Determines Your Destiny.

Douglas Adama, a British writer once wrote, "I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be." A word commonly used today is serendipity. Serendipity is an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident; it is the faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident. As a prophet, I often feel this way, however it is not chance or discovery by accident but rather the unfolding of a mystery as the human spirit seeks his or her destiny in life. I prefer to call it sagacity. What does this mean? Sagacity means acuteness of discernment and quickness of perception, or... prophetic. How many of us are sagacious enough to know that in our decision making we are actually tumbling towards our destiny?

The wise men of the East followed a star to their destiny. What is the star that will lead you to your destiny? You only need one star. Moses and Israel followed a cloud in the day and a pillar of fire at night, while Jonah was led to his destiny in a storm and in the guts of a monstrous fish.

One of the poets, whose fables were the masterpieces of French literature, Jean de La Fontaine, wrote, "A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it." Let us also consider the issue of destiny and determination. "Some are destined to succeed, some are determined to succeed." But those destined to succeed without determination may never attain what is needed to be truly successful - character.

I encourage all of you to join my School of the Prophet online where I will specifically be teaching on Destiny. Literally thousands of students have been equipped and enlightened, while taking the first two courses on Prophetic Perceptions and Prophetic Revelations. Now you can join me on April 5th and discover the important truths of your Destiny.

2 Peter 1:3-11 "...His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4) by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5) But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6) to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7) to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8) For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9) For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. 10) Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I want you to realize that the most perfect place to be, in your life, is to be at the right place at the right time for the right reason at the right season - you may just about be getting there. I also want to remind you that you have a great destiny, a destiny that God set apart for you long before you were born.

There is a difference between your purpose and your destiny. Your destiny is your ultimate election. Your purpose is your present call.

Election - Destiny:

Your destiny is your ultimate election. What did God choose you to do ultimately on this Earth? What is your ultimate election? What were you elected to do before you were born? That is what your destiny is.

Call - Purpose:

What are you called to do right now in your life? Your purpose is to fulfill your present call because this could very well be a stepping-stone toward your destiny.

In Your Element:

David was in his element when he was in the field, with his harp, and with his slingshot; when he was killing bears and lions, and singing songs to God. One day the prophet Samuel came to him and proclaimed, "I anoint you as the king of Israel." From that point onwards, destiny was released in David. David already had an election before he was born, but it was dormant. It was stagnant until the prophetic word came to him. Once God's Holy Spirit breathes on you, whatever is dormant and without a voice, suddenly comes alive. NOT ONLY WILL THIS ATTRACT GOOD BUT IT WILL ALSO SEND A SIGNAL TO DARKNESS THAT YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY TO TAKE POSSESSION OF THEIR DOMAIN.

Unlocked Destiny

There is something inside of you that has not yet been unlocked. There is a destiny inside of you that you don't even know about, that you were elected for long before you were born, and suddenly you have a theophany, and God breathes into you and speaks. Immediately that destiny inside of you is unlocked. That's the beauty of the prophetic word and the prophetic presence in your life.

Once Samuel had prophesied and laid his hands upon David and said, "You are the king of Israel," did David become the king immediately? No, not according to the Scriptures: it tells us that it took years until David was finally crowned as the King of Judah, and then the King of Israel. This is important for you to realize because David lived with his destiny while he was serving his purpose. How did this happen?

First of all, he is elected and anointed to be the King of Israel, the King of Zion. But he is a young man. He goes out into the fields and one day he hears the sound of a giant that is screaming out against the people of Israel. Suddenly something rises in David and he begins to get bold and he says things that he never dreamed he would say. David begins to speak to the people and say, "Give me this ungodly Philistine, I'll take him down!" This boldness provoked anger and jealousy amongst his brothers. His brothers retorted, "What are you doing here? You are supposed to be in the field looking after our Dad's sheep." They were provoked to jealousy, because that's what happens when the boldness of God comes upon you when you know your destiny. So, David says, "I want to have a chance to fight this giant." The rest is history.

From that point onwards, David's call is to minister in King Saul's palace as a musician in the King's courts. Now, you may say, "He was anointed to be the king of Israel." That's right, but you've got to understand that he has to fulfill his call before he can take his seat in his ultimate election.

What is your present call? David was called to be a harpist and then he was called to be an armor bearer, and so his purpose was to serve in that capacity even though he had the election of a King.

Temporary Purpose

Your purpose is always temporary. It's never permanent. In other words, your present purpose is to serve your present call. If you're called to work at a gas station (even though you know that your ultimate destiny is to own a business), then your purpose is to serve in that capacity with your whole heart. What you are doing right now may only be for a specific time because God is leading you to your destiny. But if you don't fulfill your call, you may never get to your destiny.

I had to share that with you because many of you don't realize that if you keep your eye on your destiny, on your election, and you fulfill your present purpose, which is whatever you are called to do with it, sweeping floors somewhere or if it's working in a secular job, that's what you're called to do for a season until you get to the place of your ultimate destiny.

Read 2nd Peter 1:5-9…"5) But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6) to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7) to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8) For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9) For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

He says, "For he who lacks these things is shortsighted." Every person who has a call and a destiny in life, and that's the entire human race, has to have certain qualities in order for them to have keen sight and keen perception. For without perception you cannot progress. Without vision you dwell carelessly. So what happens is Peter tells them, "If you lack any of these things..." What things? Diligence, faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, and brotherly kindness. These seem like just simple, simple things, but Peter says, "If you lack these," the fundamental commands and principles that Christ taught us, if you lack them, "You are shortsighted." If you are shortsighted, it means you cannot see very far and you cannot go very quickly, and you are going to be very slow at progressing. This is very important. He says, "You are shortsighted even to blindness, if you lack virtue, kindness, brotherly love, and you have forgotten that you were cleansed from your old sins." Now this is what I want you to get: Verse 10: "Therefore brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and your election sure. For if you do these things you will not stumble."

That's right, because what happens is that when you are sure of your call and you are sure of your election, you will never stumble. The word "stumble" there doesn't mean that you're not going to sin and you're not going to make a mistake. It doesn't mean any of that. It just means that you may fall down, you may make a mistake, but you will ultimately rise up and you will get back on track because this is what leads you to your DESTINY.
