What Is Vision? by Bret Wade

By Bret Wade
Let's pick up our series with defining vision. "Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he who keeps the law, he is blessed." Proverbs 29:18 Vision is defined as "the act or power of anticipating that which will or may come to be." Vision is God speaking His purpose. It's an insight into what God is saying and doing now that includes our involvement. Vision is an expanding understanding that enables us to interact with God's redemptive purposes. It's redeeming in that it's bringing His answer to a lack where He is pointing out that His abundance is needed.

"Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he who keeps the law, he is blessed." Proverbs 29:18

Vision is defined as "the act or power of anticipating that which will or may come to be."

Vision is God speaking His purpose. It's an insight into what God is saying and doing now that includes our involvement. Vision is an expanding understanding that enables us to interact with God's redemptive purposes. It's redeeming in that it's bringing His answer to a lack where He is pointing out that His abundance is needed.

The Message Bible says it this way, "If people can't see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed."

Vision Comes in Many Different Forms

When we engage with God in what He is saying in the present we experience His presence – His I AM-ness. He is speaking the place where we co-create with Him. We bring the changes He desires through His plan and purposes working through us.

Vision comes in many different forms. It can be the purpose on a person, a family, a group of people, a project, an initiative or an entity such as a ministry or a company. Even upon a country. It could be personal or public but it always involves others both in receiving and giving assistance. Everything in the kingdom of God points in that direction.

Vision is always bigger than us. It's vital to adding values and structure effectively keeping us on course. Gaining clarity on vision is needed for all of us today.

Next...let's talk about what vision provides...
